2. When and where are the quarterly meetings, and who can attend?

Quarterly meetings are held in January, April, July, and October at various places in Alaska. In summer months, we typically include facility tours prior to the business meeting and technical program. Upcoming technical programs are announced in meeting minutes and agendas that are sent to members via email. All SWANA members are welcome to attend. Teleconference or web meeting capability is typically provided for members to call in for the technical program and business meeting.

3. What are the technical programs all about?

Each quarterly meeting will have a technical program related to solid waste management. Past topics have included groundwater monitoring, emergency debris management, incineration, and landfill gas management. Technical sessions also often focus on new construction projects at waste management facilities in southcentral Alaska.
