Welcome to the Alaska Chapter of SWANA!

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is an organization with members from the public and private sectors, as well as non-profit organizations and institutions.  With 47 Chapters in the US, Canada, the Caribbean, and Pacific Basin. SWANA members serve as stewards of public health and the environment across North America. SWANA is the leading association for public sector waste and resource management professionals. The Alaska Chapter of SWANA is a group of professionals from the state of Alaska.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the management of solid waste in Alaska by offering education, training, promoting the dissemination of information, continuing education, professional development, and research programs.

We hold quarterly meetings at various locations in Alaska, offering technical programs related to solid waste management, and project-specific information exchange at each meeting. Microsoft Teams web based meeting access is available for meetings where members are unable to attend in person. We also offer various training opportinities throughout the year.
